Born in Poughkeepsie on August 23, 1938, he was the son of George A. and Ruth Bird Howell.

Bill was a graduate of Arlington High School, Class of 1956 and received his Bachelor's Degree in History/English from Marist College in 1968. He served his country with the US Army from 1962-1965.

On September 12, 1967 in Hyde Park, Bill married Antoinette Wirhouski. Mrs. Howell survives at home.

Mr. Howell was employed by Dutchess County Department of Consumer Affairs as an Inspector of Weights and Measures from 1979-2000.

In addition to his wife Antoinette, he is survived by his son, Dylan Howell of Pleasant Valley and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Traver Rd., Pleasant Valley on Saturday, December 10 at 11 am with Rev. Ellen O'Hara presiding.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
