JACQUELYN “JILL” DAKIN – 2015


Jacquelyn “Jill” Hackett, 76, a lifetime resident of Pleasant Valley passed away on July 1, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born in Pleasant Valley, NY on July 26, 1938, the daughter of John P. and Ida Peters Dakin. She was married to John J. Gleason and had three sons; Wayne, Shaun, and Jeffery. Following his death she met and married Thomas Hackett on December 27, 1975. He predeceased her on July 27, 1992. Jill was employed for many years by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and later in her retirement worked part-time for over a decade at Adams Fairacre Farms. She was an active member and Eucharistic Minister in St Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley, NY. Jill was known as an eternal optimist and had an immense enthusiasm for life. She was admired by friends, loved by family, and will be dearly missed by all.

Survivors include her son Wayne John Gleason and his partner Mark Aguirre of Washington, D.C.; her brother John P. Dakin of Poughkeepsie, NY, her sister Sue Ann Schroder of Pleasant Valley Also surviving are her grandchildren: Shauna Gleason, Jessica Gleason, John Gleason and Brendan Logan - Bloom, and her beloved niece, Colleen Trogisch and nephews, Patrick Dakin and Michael Schroder. Jill was predeceased by her sons, Jeffery Gleason and Shaun Gleason, and her brother Terrence Dakin.
