DAVID TRAVER— 2008


ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - David J. Traver, a native of Pleasant Valley, died Sept. 20, 2008 at his home in Anchorage, Alaska, he was 72 years old.

Born in Poughkeepsie on May 7, 1936, he was a son of James M. and Lavina Foote Traver. Mr. Traver was a graduate of Arlington High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska and later was a civilian worker at the Base until his retirement in 2001.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a member of the Hillside Baptist Church and a member of the Southcentral Alaska Beard and Moustache Club. On Jan. 15, 1961, he married Louava Sargeant who survives at home. Also surviving are his mother, Lavina Traver of Poughkeepsie; a brother, Donald F. Traver of Pleasant Valley; three children and five grandchildren. A Memorial Service was held on Sept. 25, 2008 at Hillside Baptist Church in Anchorage.
